What to watch for from a brain injury

Brain injuries are a serious type of injury that can be suffered in a variety of different ways, including in car accidents and other types of traumatic accidents. Like many other car accident injuries, they may not always be immediately obvious and may worsen over time so car accident victims should know what to watch for an what to do about it.

Brain injuries can be open or closed head injuries but closed head injuries may be more difficult to detect. Regardless of the type of brain injury, brain injuries such as a traumatic brain injury can have a dramatic and devastating impact on victims. Victims can suffer a range of serious symptoms associated with a brain injury which can make it challenging for them to complete daily tasks, hold a job or maintain relationships with friends and families.

Victims of brain injuries may suffer physical, cognitive and emotional symptoms. Physical symptoms of brain injuries to watch for include severe headaches; nausea and dizziness; weakness or numbness on one side of the body; confusion and difficulty remembering; and unusual tiredness or sluggishness. Victims of brain injuries may not know what to do about the symptoms they suffer and the damages they have suffered but legal options are available to help them with their physical, financial and emotional harm.

If the victim has suffered a traumatic brain injury because of the negligence of another party, they may be able to recover compensation for their medical expenses; future medical care that is needed; lost wages; lost-earning capacity; and pain and suffering damages. Brain injury victims should know how to hold negligent drivers accountable and how to get the help they need to help them recover as they face a challenging recover process following a brain injury.
